Public Involvement and Outreach

Public involvement is an essential part of the watershed management process. H-GAC not only informs and educates citizens and local governments about water quality issues, but H-GAC also learns more about local water quality problems and gets help resolving those problems by listening to and working with stakeholders. H-GAC offers many opportunities for public involvement and encourages citizens to get involved in different aspects of watershed protection.

Opportunities include:

  • H-GAC Website

  • Interactive water resources mapping tool (Water Resources Information Map)

  • Videos, DVDs and watershed brochures

  • Texas Stream Team volunteer water quality monitoring

  • River Lakes Bays 'N BayouÒ Trash Bash

  • Clean Waters Initiative Workshops

  • Environmental Awareness Roundtable

  • Stakeholder groups and public meetings
